For November’s Deck Of The Month, we have chosen a Sea Ray 260 which had synthetic 2G teak decking in the cockpit and bathing platform. Sophie, a Sea Ray 260 was recently bought by her owner and is now based in Cobbs Quay Marina, Poole.

Sophie’s History

Around 6 years ago, Her owner decided to have a long lay off and insisted in getting back into boating. From there, he invested in a boat every 18 months working up in size ranging from 16′ to the current 28′. The owner also had a Larsson 220 which was used extensively. However, they wanted more accommodation and space for family holidays and to travel farther afield. As the owner was searching for a new boat, “Sophie” came along and She was ideal in terms of size and generally well maintained. However, She was looking tired in some places. She had snap in carpets that were starting to look dull which had an extreme amount of staining!

Sophie’s Deck Transformation

After completing some research into compatible marine flooring solutions, the decision was based on whether they wanted to replace the snap in carpets or go for a ‘teak’ effect deck. They initially thought that the synthetic teak would uplift the boat as well as being beneficial for traveling farther afield. Furthermore, the owner made enquiries to local companies in the Poole area but found that MCP Marine, who are based in Emsworth, to be the most efficient.

The job included fabricating the panels for the cockpit and bathing platform which took 2 weeks to make and fit.
